Preparing for Surgery?

If you are preparing for surgery, there are steps you can take to ensure your body is ready to undergo surgery. Preoperative Nutritional Support has proven to be a main element and critical step in Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Procotols (ERAS) in order to achieve better surgical results.

Preoperative Nutritional Support has proven to be a main element and critical step in Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Procotols (ERAS) in order to achieve better surgical results.

Before Surgery, we will:

+ Meet twice – 2 weeks before surgery and and 1-3 days before surgery
+ We will outline a plan for nutrition leading up to surgery by making sure you have a strategy to hit protein goals each day, and adding conditionally essential amino acids to your diet.
+ 1-2 days before surgery we will discuss how nutrition can play a role in recovery in the immediate days following surgery, and make sure you have everything you need and your support set up for those first couple days post surgery

After Surgery, we will:

+ After your initial rest period, we will meet one final time to check in on progress, usually around 1 week post-op.
+ In this post-op time period, we will focus on protein intake and conditionally essential amino acids each day, while adding anti-inflammatory foods and supplements to help with recovery.

Nutrition is often overlooked as a part of the surgical process, but has been scientifically shown to help improve outcomes, including reducing risk for surgical site infections. Alayna has over 7 years of experience working within the hospital system helping to optimize nutrition during the surgical process. Unfortunately, most hospitals don’t have the resources to support their patients with targeted nutrition therapy.

The Enhanced Nutrition Recovery Package (Surgery) is $225. Be sure to note your surgical date when booking.

On the Sideline from an Injury? You are in the right place.

If you’re injured or preparing for surgery, targeted nutrition support can significantly improve your recovery and get you back in the game faster. Alayna offers a tailored and targeted nutrition program for injured athletes (bone injuries, joint injuries, ligament injuries, soft tissue injuries, head injuries), and those preparing for surgery.

Why focus on Nutrition for an injury?

+ While injured, it is critical to make sure you are still fueling your body properly. Working with a dietitian while injured can help you create a plan to make sure you are fueling with the right portions and types of food to get you back in the game.

+ While injured, targeting specific nutrients, such as conditionally essential amino acids, during this time can help you return stronger and faster to the game to help avoid future injuries as you return to play.

+ Focusing on reducing inflammation with anti-inflammatory foods and supplements can support your body to heal and recover.
